Most of the time spent on a carbon footprint goes on copying numbers out of bills and spreadsheets. An AI assistant connected to your account can do that part for you, and you check the result in the app.
How it works
Carbon Recycling runs an MCP server, the open standard AI assistants use to connect to other services. In the app, the AI assistants page gives you a connection address. Paste it into your assistant, sign in to Carbon Recycling and press Allow. Step-by-step instructions for Claude, ChatGPT and others are on that page.
What you can ask it to do
- "Here are this year's electricity bills for our two offices. Add them."
- "Add the mileage from this expenses spreadsheet as business travel."
- "What's our total footprint this year, and what's the biggest source?"
- "Which emission factor do you use for a medium diesel van?"
The assistant passes on what was used, how much and when. Carbon Recycling does the calculation with the factors for that year, so the figures match what you'd get entering the data by hand, and every entry shows in your activity list where you can check or delete it.
Who it's for
Anyone who already uses an AI assistant at work. It's most useful at year end, when a year of bills needs entering at once, and for answering a customer's carbon questions from your own figures. Our post on answering customer carbon questionnaires covers what to say.
How Carbon Recycling helps
Connecting an assistant is part of your Carbon Recycling account. Start a free trial, open AI assistants in the app menu and follow the steps for your assistant. If you'd rather not use AI, everything it does can be done in the app or by uploading a spreadsheet.
